The sunshine and great rugby continued as BVI claimed their second victory of the day—but a gritty USVI defence made them work hard for it!
Elmar Bosman opened the scoring in the second minute, putting BVI five points ahead. The Privateers dug in, delivering some tremendous tackles and making every yard a contest. This was a determined response from the hosts, and BVI had to earn their opportunities.
Thomas Chapman crossed in the ninth minute, with Sam Thompson’s conversion extending the lead to 12–0. Mark Wells then added another try to his day’s tally in the 13th minute, Thompson again on target to make it 19–0.
An absorbing game of rugby was unfortunately cut short in the final minutes when Roan “Peg Leg” Thornton suffered an ankle injury. Wishing Roan a speedy recovery and hoping to see him back on his feet soon.
Two wins for BVI, but today was also a celebration of rugby across the Virgin Islands. Huge thanks to the USVI Privateers for being fantastic hosts, to their players for two fiercely committed performances, and to the fans whose support made the day something special.
Great hosts. Great fans. Great rugby. Thank you, USVI!
